Your pre-surgery checklist:

  • You will be provided with a sheet of information regarding information for pre-authorization with your medical aid :
    • The Name / Type / Nature of the procedure
    • Date of surgery and time of admission
    • ID10 code and Procedure code
  • The singed consent sheet provided needs to be emailed back to us and a print-out brought with you to the hospital. 
  • Please make sure that the admission has been pre-approved by calling your medical aid and providing them with the information on the sheet. 
  • Please refrain from drinking or eating anything for 8 hours prior to the surgery. 
    • The Anesthesiologist will consult you prior to the surgery. And then allow you to have some of your chronic medication if indicated/allowed.  
    • Please bring along a list of chronic medications. 
  • Arrange for transport to and from the hospital. 
  • Don't wear make-up and jewelry to the hospital.
  • If you develop any fever, cough, rashes. Please call the practice before the surgery as it might be wise to postpone if not emergency surgery.
